Wari de los Andes L.L.C. was founded by Lidia Cortez Ñaca in February 1997 in the city of Puno. Since its inception had as main objective the promotion and dissemination of culture through local, national and international cultural events.In June 1997, the company organized the first fair under the name of "National Meeting of Andean crops, crafts and folklore" for Peasants Day celebrations. This event began the organization of craft fairs in the capital, with the participation of agro artisanal producers of various regions of Peru. At present Wari de los Andes organizes four annual fairs: “Women Entrepreneurs Fair” for the Mother's Day, “Peasant Fair of Lidia Cortez” for Peasants Day, “the Peruvianity Fair” in celebration of Patriotic Holidays and “Wishes Fair” for Christmas and New Year. As far as handicraft production, today the company has more than one hundred weavers in the production area. Garments and accessories in alpaca and sheep wool fiber are traded both on the domestic and international market: Chile, Mexico, United States and Ecuador.
